Hi there

Welcome, reader! I use this space to share my travel, books I'm into, and food. Enjoy your wanderings.

Union Square Holiday Market - New York

Union Square Holiday Market - New York

Because one can never spend multiple days in a row actually studying for finals, I took off into the city to explore. Joined by one of my partners in crime, Kevin, we set out to the Union Square Holiday Market.

This yearly holiday market sets up shop right on the edge of Union Square Park, and features vendors from all over Manhattan and Brooklyn. It's a hodgepodge of all kinds of knick-knacks including ornaments, clothing, spices, leather goods, lots of jewelry, candles, chocolates, prints, hats, scarves... you get the idea. This place is a one stop shop for all of those on your shopping list who enjoy one of a kind presents!

This particular stall was a room filled with alpaca hats! It was heavenly, and I wanted to stay forever.

Despite the very cold temps, it's fun to wander around and take in all the offerings. Try and stop by before it shuts down on Christmas Eve! It's a great excuse to escape studying for finals.

We decided to warm ourselves up with the best hot chocolate in New York City. No joke. The City Bakery is home to all kinds of delectable treats, but it's famous for its rich bowls of hot cocoa.

They even make their own fresh marshmallows! Just check out this closeup!

It's a very overwhelming experience. We ended our day with a quick walk through Washington Square Park (Hi NYU London friends!) to the Greenwich House Pottery studio.

Kevin will be starting his internship here in a few weeks, so we stopped by to see what it was like.

They have an ongoing gallery that is free to the public. The featured artists are typically residents of the studio. Art classes are also held for New Yorkers to channel their creativity.

Exhausted from a fun-filled day of wandering and exploring, back to Hofstra we went. Goodnight Kevin!

Best of luck to everyone on their finals! And if you're fortunate enough to already be finished for the semester... enjoy your freedom. Only one more semester left, fellow seniors!

Happy Holidays!
