Afternoon Tea at Sketch - London
One of the most unique afternoon tea experiences in London is at Sketch. Located within an 18th century townhouse in Mayfair, this artistic and bold restaurant was designed by French chefs Pierre Gagnaire and Mourad Mazouz and features work by artist, David Shrigley.
You can choose to dine in The Gallery (our pick), The Lecture Room, The Parlour, or The Glade. All are unique with their own theme, menu, and staff. I had seen The Gallery floating around my social media feed and knew that I had to visit when I was in London next.
We decided to toast to the end of a wonderful trip with the "Champagne Afternoon Tea".
Pinky's up!
Finally it was our turn to devour the bottomless sandwiches. That's right... bottomless! But there is a two hour dining limit to keep in mind.
That little one tied up with the yellow bow is possibly the best grilled cheese I've ever had. I also got to try caviar for the first time on one of those egg sandwiches in the back!
When you run out of treats, just keep asking for more! You are allowed endless sandwiches and desserts.
The walls provide endless entertainment with these hilarious and funky pieces of art by India Mahdavi.
I honestly felt hypnotized in this rose gold and fluffy pink oasis. I mean... that might've been the champagne and caffeine hitting me too.
We felt less silly when we saw almost every other person in the room snapping tons of photos. But if you do happen upon The Gallery, you must visit the restroom!
Ascending the stairs feels like climbing into a space ship!
These egg pods are individual stalls, with trippy light and sound effects. I'll also mention that this one room contains both male and female toilets, and I did not feel uncomfortable about it for even a second *ahem ahem*
Humans, I come in peace
If you're in the mood for a not so traditional English afternoon tea, check out Sketch! Apparently the room themes change every few years, so keep an eye out for what's coming next. Just be sure to book a table ahead because this place fills up fast. Delicious food, warm tea, bubbly champagne, and an unforgettable atmosphere! Thanks for having us!
Sadly, shortly after this we had to say goodbye to London and return to the States. This incredible city seems to have some pull on me and I just can't stay away for too long. However I've already booked my next adventure abroad to a country that's brand new to me! This summer I'll be heading to the Mediterranean for some warm sun and exploration! (Any tips on waterproof cameras are much appreciated!)
