Hi there

Welcome, reader! I use this space to share my travel, books I'm into, and food. Enjoy your wanderings.

Because the first novel on our "Writing London" class was Oliver Twist we paid a visit to The Charles Dickens Museum. It happens to be right around the corner from both the academic center and where we're staying Bloomsbury.

Here is Charles Dickens' desk where he wrote Oliver Twist and many other famous works.

Another day we hit the streets exploring the setting where Oliver Twist would have taken place.

Chloe squared was really excited to get on the big red bus.

The class was struggling to keep up with our professor AND not get hit by cars. I'm still figuring out which way to look before crossing the street...

Hi guys!

We ducked through narrow alleys...

and Patriotic alleys.

We finished the day with outdoor class in a courtyard between St. Bartholomew's Church and Hospital.

We worked up an appetite with all of that walking, and found an "authentic" diner in the heart of Soho. They were very close to being a true American diner, but the second they served us mayonnaise with french fries (chips) all hope was lost.

The other night we all decided to root for our home land by watching the World Cup match in a London pub. I found that most Brits ended up taking sides with the US after their unfortunate early losses, so it made for a fun atmosphere.

Very fun night with amazing new friends! Unfortunately things didn't turn out so well for the US team...

And on that note, Happy Fourth of July from across the pond! It's strange that I won't get to fully celebrate this year at the beach with my family. But I'm so happy to spend the holiday weekend with my new London family in Southwest England. Stay tuned!
